Lily Pad Cards Inspiration Challenge

It's time to be inspired by what you've seen on the Lily Pad Cards site and join this challenge!
I loved THIS carnival themed card that Alice made for last week's sketch challenge. It totally inspired me to get out "Admit One" by Lawn Fawn and have some fun.

This card used some simple"old-school" stamping. Nothing fancy; just some Jenni Bowlin inks in Seed Packet, Soap Powder, Spice Tin, Lemon Drop, and Chili Powder. This white panel was layered with a PTI Harvest Gold cardstock panel. The card base is covered with a colorful pattern by October Afternoon. The twine is from The Twinery.
Now it's your turn to play....head on over to Lily Pad Cards and get inspired!

Just a note: Today is the last day to enter my Blog Candy Giveaway. I've got some Penny Black and Hero Arts up for grabs so click HERE for your chance to win!

It's another Sketch challenge at Lily Pad Cards!

Today I'm using a great new stamp set from The Craft's Meow called It's a Banner Day. The set has two styles of banners along with alphabet, number and punctuation stamps. My sentiment is from the Simply Delightful set.

Card Recipe:
  • Stamp the banners with brown dye ink
  • Add color using Copic markers (pencils, ink etc.)
  • Cut out and add stitching lines with white gel pen
  • Punch tiny hole in top of each flag, insert jump ring
  • Thread the jump rings on brown baker's twine.
  • Make card base from white cs. 9x4 inches
  • Cut kraft cs to 8.75x3.75.
  • White emboss sentiment in lower right corner
  • Add white stitching lines to kraft.
  • Pierce holes in either side of kraft panel to thread the twine to the back of panel, tape down.
  • Arrange banners on kraft panel just above sentiment
  • Using dimensional foam adhesive adhere flags in place.
  • Mount kraft panel to card base with dimensional foam adhesive.
  • Finish by adding coordinating buttons to some of the flags and adding tiny twine bows.
Now it's your turn to play along. Visit Lily Pad Cards to get all the challenge details and to see the cards by the talented design team. They always amaze me with their creative talent.

~ Romans 14:17-19 ~
"For the kingdom of God is not a matter of what you eat or drink,
but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
If you serve Christ with this attitude,
you will please God, and others will approve of you too.
So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up."

Guest Blogger at Inspired by....

Can you believe it? I'm the Guest Blogger at Inspired by... filling in today for the mega-talented Jill Foster. I'm getting my exercise doing the happy dance! Jill is at CHA this week so I'm getting my shot at being inspired by her fabulous style!

I first "met" Jill in the Hero Arts Flickr group and way back in November of 2009 she featured me as her inspired by subject.  I'm happy to say that my style has evolved since then. We had the opportunity to meet at Winter CHA last January; I recognized her right away by her brilliant smile! One of the items on my {to do list} is a trip to Arizona so I can take one of her classes at Mementos.  I'm so happy to call Jill a friend; she's so sweet and kind and such a wonderful source of encouragement.

The hardest part of this assignment was deciding which of Jill's cards to choose. Oh my goodness that girl is talented; her style is so distinctive and every card is a masterpiece. I finally found one filled with gorgeous warm color and a beautiful flower as the focal image. But what really drew me to it was the lovely music background.
Here's Jill's amazing card:

I used all the same basic elements and colors and created my own homage to Flora and Music:

Patriotic Challenge with Some Odd Girl at Lily Pad Cards

Usually when I think of doing something patriotic my mind goes to red, white and blue; stars and stripes and fireworks. But since it's Lily Pad Cards and trying new things is the order of the day, this time I decided to think closer to home; my own Orange County, California community where I have lived for the last 40+ years. So instead of red, white and blue I chose bright sunshine and beach colors.

I found the cutest little digital stamp from Some Odd Girl. I had to go with Beachy Tia, since I love the beach and my little Chihuahua is named Tia; it was destiny I think.

Since Beachy Tia is a digital stamp I was able to add her a photo of the Huntington Beach Pier which I then printed out on Neenah Solar White paper. This allowed me to color the image using Copic markers. I added some sparkle to her swim suit and sunglasses frame with a Golden Star Gelly Roll pen. Glossy Accents makes her lenses shine. I found the postcard images online and printed them on photo paper, I used deckle scissors to give them the look of an old postcard. The sentiments are SRM stickers. I'm shocked to say that I used no ink or rubber stamps on this card, unless you count the orange background paper that was pre-stamped a while ago and waiting for the perfect project.

Computer Update: as of 9:00pm Thursday July 14th I have my own pc back where she belongs and she's working like brand new! You have no idea how happy I am to access to all my files again and my own personalized internet settings and favorites. Yippee skippy!

 ~ Hosea 10:12 ~
Plant the good seeds of righteousness,
and you will harvest a crop of love.
Plow up the hard ground of your hearts,
for now is the time to seek the Lord,
that He may come and shower righteousness upon you.

Lily Pad Cards/Tickled Pink Stamps

It's that time again.....for another fabulous Lily Pad Palette Challenge, courtesy of our very own Kathy! This time we got to play some wonderful stamps from Tickled Pink Stamps using the sweet and summery color palette.

My card image is called Lil Pinkettes-Pippa. I thought she was adorable with her sugar and spice combo of flowers and overalls.

Coloring was done with Copics and the stamped bits are done with Jenni Bowlin inks in Chicken Feed and Chewing Gum. The patterned paper is from Basic Grey's Out of Print 6x6 paper collection.

I'm still limping along without my computer, it's been more than a week now and I'm in serious withdrawals. It's amazing how much I rely on that machine. This is my first attempt at a blog post on Ben's laptop and it's taking me much longer than it should. I guess I should mention that this laptop traveled to Iraq with him more than once, it's been dropped and gotten talcum powder-like sand blown through it. I'm just grateful it still works.
I just talked to the good people at Micro Center and they expect my new motherboard and power supply to arrive today, yippee! With any luck (and I've used a bit of it so far, my computer was still under warranty for 2 more months, can you believe it? ) I should have it back fully recovered by Monday. I'm missing all the fun at the Summer Card Camp and I can't wait to get back to it and entering all the challenges out there.

~ Proverbs 3:3-4 ~

bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man."
