Color Challenge Time at Lily Pad Cards

I was thinking Spring with a love theme when I saw the color palette for the new Kathy's Lily Pad Palette challenge.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps and I had a pretty digital stamp to work with called "with love".

I started by opening the image in Microsoft Publisher along with a digital paper by Sande Krieger called Grapefruit from the Farmers Market Digital set. I layered the image over the paper and changed the image color from black to white. Then I re-sized it and printed it out on white card stock. Next I trimmed the image (it had another outline), rounded the corners and layered it on a piece of the brand new Lawn Fawn patterned paper. After punching a hole and tying the twine I set it aside and created the background with another piece of Lawn Fawn paper. I wrote out a Bible verse (1 John 4:7-8) several times in messy script using a white gel pen.  I made a top folded 4.25x5.5 card base and wrote the same verse on it with green pencil then distressed and added color with a blending tool and Shabby Shutters Distress ink. The flower border is a strip of LF paper. Once all the pieces were layered I finished the card with some pink and red gems.
Make sure to head over to Lily Pad Cards to see the rest of the cards by the Design Team...they are pretty awesome if you ask me. I hope you'll join us in this new color challenge.

My CHA 2012 adventure continues- Day One:

Sunday I spent the day with Ivy. We explored all the new products, took notes, did make n takes, met new friends and got some great ideas to share with the Stamp Fever Design Team. Sunday night I took a workshop with instructor Donna Downey using Faber-Castell Gelatos on Canvas. Unfortunately I have no photos because as soon as we got started my fingers were covered with glue and paint. Suffice it to say I had a great time and came home with a whole set of Gelatos to play with at home.

The Stamp Fever team stopped by the Hero Arts booth first thing so we could meet Karen Rider (born2scrap775 on Flickr). From left- Karen, Jennifer, Ivy, Shari, Gina, Sally, me and Linda.

I met Kim Hughes, the creator of Paper Smooches. She's so sweet and her stamp designs are so fun and playful. They will be fun to use on cards and layouts for Uriah.

Next we did a make n take with Jill Foster at the Faber-Castell booth. I love Jill, she's such a genuinely lovely person and such a talent too!

Ivy snagged some "Tim Time".

Then it was back to Lawn Fawn land where Chari was holding court at the make n take table with Vera. They are 2 of the sweetest people...love them both!

Ivy and I found lots of fun products and ideas; we'll be using them in some upcoming classes.

blessings,
nancy
