Uriah's Birthday and a confession: Feeling Very Uninspired Lately

I don't know how it happened....I've not only lost my mojo, it seems I've lost my will to craft. Things are looking pretty bleak here in the studio. I tried just powering through and creating something, anything but it just got me more frustrated that I didn't have any vision or focus or any fresh ideas.

So, I've left the studio to ponder and get to the heart of what's really troubling me. I'm finding answers in the Official Manual for Living (the Bible). After a much needed tune-up, some attitude adjustments, and a change of scenery (can you say Scrapfest?!) I should be able to find my happy crafting heart once more.

Okay, so that explains my blogging absence now on to what has been making me happy lately.....my family, especially my little One Year Old Uriah!

My heart just melts when I see that precious face....he was just adorable digging in to his birthday cupcake!

Uriah has been learning to swim since he was 4 months old so it only seemed right to have a pool party to celebrate his first birthday. All the dads were in the pool with their kids and they all played with the fun pool toys. My Daughter-in-Love, Kellie, did a fantastic job planning the party and everyone had a great time!

My hubby, Uriah's "Pop Pop" picked out this cute little ride on 4 wheeler for Uriah.

Grammy even found a creative spark and made the birthday banner.

Digby update: My golden boy is still wearing socks but there is good news too. He is healing and they found out why he was scratching himself raw...a non-contagious strain of ringworm, which happily isn't a parasite but a very treatable type of fungus. Unfortunately, the treatment involves a month's worth of weekly lime baths at the vet- expensive and seriously stinky. We still don't know exactly where or how he picked it up but I suspect the pack of stray cats in the neighborhood....we've been trying to teach him to chase them out of the yard to no avail. Apparently, he's a lover not a fighter. At least Tia has been spared the skin scourge so far.
And in other good news, the thyroid medicine is working! Digby has lost 15 pounds and has found his inner puppy again!

I'm looking forward to my trip to Scrapfest next week....it will be a whirlwind 4 days. The Lawn Fawn team will be back together for this event and I can't wait to see Britta and Chari again. Finally having the chance to meet some of my closest inter-web friends is also putting a big smile on my face.

Here's a Thought!

  1. Uriah is so beautiful, Nancy!! Those eyes are especially gorgeous! Given a choice between a cupcake and Uriah for dessert, it would be Uriah, hands down! So sorry you are dealing with major vet issues ... We owned our last dog 15 years ago and have been shocked at the cost of veterinary care. But they are so worth it; they steal our hearts. Really looking forward to meeting you at Scrapfest. I think your mojo has gone ahead and is waiting for you there. Hugs!! (That "hold loosely" quote does not mean Uriah!!)

  2. Your grandson is just adorable Nancy! What a precious face. You will get your mojo back.....it always comes back! It sounds like you have been super, super busy this past summer and perhaps that is why the mojo is on a hiatus.....you are just in the middle of a much needed rest. See you at Scrapfest next week!

I took a break from card making (I've been posting card I made before just never posted) and follow my heart which at that time wanting to do more scrapbooking. Your grandson, Uriah is so cute! Love his focus look riding the little ride. :) Hugs to you.

  7. What a precious grandson!! Adorable and what a fun party, too!
I'm sure that creative gene will kick in soon, glad to hear you are checking in with the Creator via the Word. Our acronym for the Bible is Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth! A very needful manual, indeed! Rest in Him :-)

I'm glad to hear Digby is on the mend - whew! And as far as the mojo goes - I've been losing mine about every other week lately - it can be frustrating but I have a feeling yours will come back soon. CAN'T WAIT to meet you at Scrapfest next week - FINALLY!! :)

  10. Grandchildren are the perfect distraction! He is adorable. I have been missing your writing if nothing else. I am reminded of Ecclesiastes 3:1 "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens".

One of our seasons often needs to step aside and rest - to rejuvenate. So be patient with yourself and "in due time" according to His timing you will know exactly what to do.

Big hugs to you - in Scrapfest - never been but it sounds exciting!

  11. what a totally adorable little man he is Nancy. Hasn't this year simply flown by. Sorry to hear you lack of creativity. Just enjoy other things and what will be, will be. I'm sure that the trip to Scrapfest will do the trick. So wish I could come too!!!
    take care my friend.

  12. Such a beautiful grandson!! You are so wise to go to the source. When I've lost my creative flow, I'm learning (painfully) to be patient. Sometimes I think I'm doing this to get glory from others (acceptance and affirmation that I am creative and therefore have worth). I also feel that people have expectations of me and I don't want to let anyone down. That is not necessary! I need to see myself in God's eyes, not man's, and that changes everything.

  14. I have the same problem, no mojo.. flickering inspiration. Mine has a lot to do with various pain issues I'm dealing with. Seems like as soon as one thing starts to get better, another one pops up. If it's not the back, it's the neck, if it's not those then it's just the busy work and home schedule. Crossing my fingers for both of us! And your gs is adorable!!!
