On Vacation

I'll soon be winging my way to Hawaii for some much needed R&R with my sweetie. We'll be enjoying all the sights on the Big Island and taking in the folksy fun of the Kona Coffee Festival with our friends Don and Karen. I hope to have some awesome photos to share when I get back.

Here's a photo of Al and I from our last visit to Hawaii, our trip to Kauai in 2003 to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

We were almost tanned and very rested on our last trip to Hawaii.
This is one of the few photos of Al without his classic Tom Selleck mustache.

Last time we enjoyed the beautiful sunrises, this trip we will be be enjoying the sunsets.

We'll be leaving our home securely guarded by our attack chihuahua, goofy golden and a heavily armed former Marine for any not so friendly types out there who would take advantage of our absence. Just sayin'.

See you all soon, hope you enjoy some lovely Fall events where you are!

We're Celebrating Barb's Birthday!!

I had the wonderful good fortune to meet the adorable Barb Engler last month at Scrapfest. She is every bit as delightful in person as she is online, maybe even more so. I didn't have nearly enough time to chat with her during the busy weekend but I have the feeling that our friendship will continue to grow.

This lovely woman is celebrating a birthday today so some of the Hero Hostess alumni (headed up by Virginia) are staging a little blog hop in her honor. Barb, I hope you are surprised and delighted!

I wanted to make a really special card to send to Barb, here's what I came up with:

I think it's bold and cheerful, just like our birthday girl! Happy Birthday to you, Sweet Friend!

Nancy- you are here!

You can join in the birthday celebration by linking your card at Virginia's blog.

Here's a pic of the Hero Hostess Alumni who were able to gather at Scrapfest this September. It was Barb's idea to get us all together for a photo....

Be sure to drop by Barb's blog to share your birthday wishes with her!

It's Day Seven- Let's Remake the Day One Card

So when I decided to use these cards for my class I wanted to add a fun technique instead of using patterned paper for the background. This is the exact same card as Sunday's but with an inked and stamped background.
Just like the red background on the Day Three card, I blended Evergreen Bough Distress ink on white cardstock, sprinkled some pearly water and then stamped the fun snowflake image in the same ink.

Lots of Stamping on the Day Six Card

I wanted to use the images in the "And a Partridge" set to create a colorful background. I repeated patterns with cheerful colors. I liked how it looked so much I decided not to cover it up so I went with a simple sentiment label and twine to finish the card. This is second card for my November class.

I stamped the tree with Crushed Olive Distress ink, the leaf border in Peacock Feathers and the hearts in Festive Berries. Festive Berries was also used to color the label and stamp the leaf border.

Here's all the products I used for this card:
