Comfort Food

So we finally have a chilly day by Southern California standards (for those of you where it actually gets cold, we're talking low 60s, breezy and some sprinkles). I've been craving butterscotch pudding; not the stuff from the box but real mix it up from scratch pudding so I pulled my Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book off the shelf and flipped to the dessert section.

This was a wedding gift, it's the 1976 reprint and it's still my favorite cookbook!

This recipe makes the richest, most creamy butterscotch pudding!

Cooling on the counter before chilling in the fridge.

I'll add a little whipped cream before we devour these!

Not sure I can wait for dessert; these may be an appetizer!

That's all for today, I'll be back tomorrow with another card!

You can never have too many birthday cards on hand....

I've been replenishing my stock of birthday cards, playing with stamps that don't get out much!

I just love this Penny Black set called A Little Bird! I kept the card simple just stamping and coloring with a popped up birthday message.

I gave it a collage-y look by lightly stamping some pretty images from Butterfly Garden Impressions No. 14 by Pink Paislee in the background. Hero Arts layering paper and Newspaper Background make up the cardbase.

I like how girly this looks!

Thanks for visiting with me today!

World Card Making Day

Hey there, I hope everyone has carved out some time today for a little card making to celebrate World Card Making Day! I did my stamping a couple days ago to make a card for Lawn Fawn's Operation Write Home WCMD Blog Hop post. Here's a peek:

There is no time for card making for me today because it's "Dog-toberfest"!! I'll be spending the day with hundreds of wet and happy rescued golden retrievers. It's a fundraiser for the Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles- Rescue organization. We adopted our sweet boy Digby through GRCGLA-Rescue and he loves Dog-toberfest. It's Golden Retriever pandemonium as they swim, frolic and generally do what goldens do. We will bring Tia and our grand-dog Marty along too!

here's Dig enjoying a game of fetch (yep, he's a ball hog, there are 2 tennis balls in his mouth)
in the pool at the last Dog-toberfest event

If you are looking to adopt a Golden Retriever in the Southern California area or you'd like to support an organization dedicated to rescuing these sweet, gentle dogs please check out the GRCGLA-Rescue website.

Happy World Card Making Day!

Cutest Crew Member at Trader Joe's

I got the June page done for Uriah's first year book! I just loved this series of photos from a trip to the Trader Joe's market where his daddy works. Uriah is ready for a management position in his cute Hawaiian shirt!

I used a mix of Lawn Fawn and Studio Calico paper, a computer generated title,
MME enamel dots and chipboard stickers from Echo Park.

I even did some machine stitching and it doesn't look bad, yay me!

I've just got July and August to complete and I will be finished with Uriah's first year. I plan to do a post with all 12 pages when I have them done.

So happy you visited with me today!

another scrapbook page, yay!

So I'm really behind in creating a pages for Uriah's album so I kicked myself into gear to get a couple done. I worked on May and June of 2012 this past weekend and I have May to share today.

I make 8x8 page layouts, I find this size gives me enough room for everything without being scary big. When Uriah was born I gave Andy and Kellie an 8x8 album with the first page inside. My plan is to do a page for each month of his first year and then to scrap the highlights like birthdays, holidays and fun events.

In May of 2012 Uriah was 8 months old when he attended a Mother's Day brunch at the Reagan Library. He looked so cute in his little suit and was a perfect little gentleman.

I used lots of different paper from Studio Calico and the Tag, You're It and Stitched Journaling Card Lawn Cuts dies by Lawn Fawn. The little black chevrons and stars are die cut with the Stitched Journaling Card dies. The 2 circle titles were computer generated and die cut with Circle Stackables Lawn Cuts.

I tucked a little journaling card behind the photo so Kellie can record memories from her first Mother's Day.

I just love that face! (The font is KG Skinny Latte: thank you Ivy!)

Hopefully I will have the page for June tomorrow, fingers crossed!
