A Fall-Themed Hello!

So I'm still longing for Fall to arrive in Southern California. Also rain, we could really use some rain.
Today I have a card to share that was inspired by this card by Shari Carroll.

I stamped the Woodgrain Backdrops in Delicata Gold ink for a little sparkle!

Supplies:
Paper- Webster's Pages, Family Traditions 6x6 pack, Neenah Desert Storm
Stamps- Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops, Hero Arts Coloring Layering Fall Trees (sentiment)
Dies- Lawn Fawn Scripty Hello, Hearts
Ink- Delicata Gold

Dreaming of Fall and Cooler Weather

Okay so we didn't get hot weather in So Cal until September this year. Summer was very mild and very nice and I got used to it. Then September hit bringing a furnace blast. Usually I don't want summer to end but really, I'm over it. Bring on Autumn! Cue the cool breeze, the crispness in the air....anytime now.

I am having so much fun with the Hero Arts Coloring Layering Fall Trees! This card was so easy and very quick to make. I stamped the tree with pretty Fall colors of ink then die cut it with Lawn Fawn's Stitched Circle Tags die. I mounted the tag on a Lawn Fawn Butternut Notecard and tied on some jute.

forgiving one another even as God, in Christ also has forgiven you."

Bible Journal - Psalm One

I've been admiring all the beautiful Bible journaling pages on Instagram and Pinterest and I was very intrigued by the chance to combine creativity with time meditating on God's Word. I actually did this page back in July, I guess it's better late than never to share my first attempt at Bible journaling.

I bought a Bible specifically for adding artsy journaling.  I found this ESV Journaling Bible at Christianbooks.com

I remember that Psalm 1 was the first passage that I studied in depth as a teenager, many years ago. It seemed like the perfect place to start this new journey!

I sketched everything in pencil first then went over all the lines with a Signo Uniball  Ultra Micro pen. Color was added with watercolor paints. The water does make the pages wrinkle a bit but I love the look and the crinkly sound when the page is turned.

I thought I would create a title for each Bible book so I used Lawn Fawn's Louie's ABCs to die cut the letters from Webster's Pages Family Traditions 6x6 paper.

I added a scribbled outline to the die cut letters with the Ultra Micro pen.

Time spent in fellowship with God is time well-spent!
There's no right or wrong way, no daily quotas.
Just pray, just read the Bible; free your heart to worship!
The result is a closer walk with God.

Color Layering Fall Trees

Apparently I took the summer off from blogging. I didn't mean to it just sort of happened. I would like to get back to 2-3 posts each week so let's see how that goes! If you are reading this, thank you so much for taking the time, I appreciate it.

I had fun playing with the new Hero Arts set Color Layering Fall Trees. I found that it was so easy to make something really lovely with this set. I'm sure I will be making lots of cards with this set!

I stamped the layering pieces with Distress inks in Fossilized Amber, Ripe Persimmon and Rusty Hinge and the tree trunk with Walnut Stain on watercolor paper die cut using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle die. Then I used a bit of water on a paint brush to move the color just a bit.

I let the piece dry then I masked off a hill shape and blended on Fossilized Amber Distress ink. The script from an older PTI set (Background Basics:Text Style) was stamped with Vintage Photo while the mask was still in place. I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts' Butterfly and Flower set with Lawn Fawn's Walnut ink. The finished piece was mounted to a Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle panel die cut from Simple Stories Summer Vibes 6x6 paper.

I'm attempting to turn over a new leaf and actually send the cards I make. I have not been successful with this process in the past but I'm hoping to change my ways!

You may have heard the term "wrestling in prayer". That brings to mind a power struggle; trying to get God to do what we want; to answer our prayers in the way we want them answered.
When I "wrestle" in prayer I am not wrestling with God but with my own will. The struggle is the surrendering of my will to conform to His perfect will.
In this struggle there is growth and there is peace.
