Quick and Easy Easter Card

Stamp Fever is having a Make a Card event this Saturday. All the tools, stamps and inspiration will be supplied for making some Easter or Spring cards. I was asked to design a card that would be easy to make without help.
Here'e a photo of the 3 designs for the event, mine is on the right:

I used my favorite HA Leaf and Floral background to do a simple resist; going over it with Shabby Shutters ink. I over-stamped with HA Old Letter Writing in Shabby Shutters just because I like the extra texture it adds. The cross by Unity was stamped in Artprint Brown ink. The sentiment, an old Lizzie Anne stamp, is stamped on a punched label and added with pop dots over some tied twine.  Just a bit of green Smooch as accents on the leaves and flower centers and the quick and easy card is done.

Make sure you visit Lily Pad Cards on Sunday....there's a big celebration Blog Hop for our 1st anniversary!!  There will be some fabulous prizes too! Join us April 1-8.

It's all about flowers.....

....at Lily Pad Cards. Flowers are the theme for the Simon Says Stamp sponsored challenge. That's a pretty wide open theme, perfect for letting your creativity run wild. Check out the post at Lily Pad Cards HERE for more details.

A flower theme gave me the opportunity to play with the flowers in the new Flutter By stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I masked and stamped the flowers randomly. Then I stamped one of the butterfly images in the background to look like leaves. I framed them with Hero Arts Simple Frame, stamped once on the flower panel and trimmed, then stamped again on the background patterned paper.

I colored the flowers with Letraset markers; I just love the how the blue in the background makes the flowers pop. The combination of stamps and colors gives this a stained glass window effect. After I was done with the coloring I stamped Old Letter Writing with Pumice Stone Distress ink over the top.

Make sure to visit Lily Pad Cards for this flower fest challenge. The design team has made some fabulous cards to give your creativity a jump-start.

Have a lovely weekend,

It's Virginia's View #3 at the Lily Pad

Virginia has provided us with yet another fun and interesting photo to our get creative juices flowing. This time Virginia's View is sponsored by The Stamps of Life.

Here's what I came up with using the HappyBday2You set from Stamps of Life:

Make sure to check out the new Virginia's View challenge at Lily Pad Cards, you will find some fabulous inspiration from the Design Team!

I've decided to bring back a re-vamped Thought for the Day. Sometimes it will be a Bible verse that I'm studying, sometimes an inspirational quote and occasionally I'll share a bit from my heart. I'm giving it to God and letting it be what it will be. My prayer is that you will be blessed by this "wisdom from above".

Card Samples for Stamping 103 Session 2

My fingers are pretty inky but I had a great time making these card samples for my next class. I used a finger painting technique taught by Shari Carroll at the Hero Arts workshop at CHA.  It creates a really neat watercolor look. These cards are both very simple because it's all about getting inky for this class.

The first design is Sending You Love:

Stamps: Hero Arts-Newspaper Eiffel Tower CG417, Sending You Love clear set CL588

This next design will become a set of 3 Spring Dream Note Cards in a variety of colors:

Stamps: Hero Arts-Simple Frame S5324, Spring Dream K5540, Old Letter Writing S4878

A Little Scrap-booking Today

I'm still trying to find my way as a scrap-booker, but I have an adorable subject to document so I will keep working at it. For now I'm keeping it simple so I won't get too far behind.

I finally had some time to do a {Uriah} page for January. Truly the hardest part is narrowing down the photos, his cute little face just makes me smile.

I'm working with an 8x8 inch album and the smaller size helps to take the panic out of filling a large blank page. I used a few Lawn Fawn sets: Chevron Backdrops, Critters in the Snow, Say Cheese, Claire's ABC's and Bright Side alphabet cardstock stickers. I got really ambitious and added some machine stitching on the Echo Park Country Drive paper strips.

There's a story behind each of these photos so I've added a little pocket on the back for my daughter-in-love, Kellie to add her own words.
