Uriah's Birthday and a confession: Feeling Very Uninspired Lately

I don't know how it happened....I've not only lost my mojo, it seems I've lost my will to craft. Things are looking pretty bleak here in the studio. I tried just powering through and creating something, anything but it just got me more frustrated that I didn't have any vision or focus or any fresh ideas.

So, I've left the studio to ponder and get to the heart of what's really troubling me. I'm finding answers in the Official Manual for Living (the Bible). After a much needed tune-up, some attitude adjustments, and a change of scenery (can you say Scrapfest?!) I should be able to find my happy crafting heart once more.

Okay, so that explains my blogging absence now on to what has been making me happy lately.....my family, especially my little One Year Old Uriah!

My heart just melts when I see that precious face....he was just adorable digging in to his birthday cupcake!

Uriah has been learning to swim since he was 4 months old so it only seemed right to have a pool party to celebrate his first birthday. All the dads were in the pool with their kids and they all played with the fun pool toys. My Daughter-in-Love, Kellie, did a fantastic job planning the party and everyone had a great time!

My hubby, Uriah's "Pop Pop" picked out this cute little ride on 4 wheeler for Uriah.

Grammy even found a creative spark and made the birthday banner.

Digby update: My golden boy is still wearing socks but there is good news too. He is healing and they found out why he was scratching himself raw...a non-contagious strain of ringworm, which happily isn't a parasite but a very treatable type of fungus. Unfortunately, the treatment involves a month's worth of weekly lime baths at the vet- expensive and seriously stinky. We still don't know exactly where or how he picked it up but I suspect the pack of stray cats in the neighborhood....we've been trying to teach him to chase them out of the yard to no avail. Apparently, he's a lover not a fighter. At least Tia has been spared the skin scourge so far. 

And in other good news, the thyroid medicine is working! Digby has lost 15 pounds and has found his inner puppy again!

I'm looking forward to my trip to Scrapfest next week....it will be a whirlwind 4 days. The Lawn Fawn team will be back together for this event and I can't wait to see Britta and Chari again. Finally having the chance to meet some of my closest inter-web friends is also putting a big smile on my face.

Check This Out

I'm totally loving the new Lawn Fawn stamp set, Check This Out! I got the opportunity to design a Make n Take for a local retailer show using the set. I was supposed to go to demonstrate but I had a puppy emergency so Mr Lawn Fawn, aka Mike did the honors. Men can be crafty! The card combines the stamps with the fabulous new Dewey Decimal papers. The little tag can be removed to use as a bookmark or a photo or personal message can be added.

I'm so hoping to get back to a regular posting schedule but circumstances have been conspiring against me. My father in law was in the hospital over the weekend, we are getting ready for Uriah's 1st birthday party next week, I've been working some pretty long days at LF HQ getting summer CHA orders out and then there's that "puppy emergency" I mentioned.

It appears my big boy has developed some perplexing problems. We recently had to start him on thyroid medication (it's working, he's already lost 11 pounds....where do I get some of that?) and now he has some severe allergies that have caused him to literally tear up his skin. Yesterday he did some real damage to his neck so a trip to the vet could not be put off. After a long stay at the vet and a whole pharmacy worth of medications he's resting today. I'll spare you the photos of the aftermath other than to share our very workable solution to the scratching......

.....he's triple socked, it's almost like he's got boxing gloves on his feet. It works and he looks really funny when he tries to walk on the hardwood floors.

Just home from the vet last night....trying to come off the sedatives. He needs constant supervision so I'm watching him like a hawk while we wait for the results of the testing.

I will have some fun birthday decorations to share later this week so I hope you will join me then.

Wedding Card Challenge

Okay, here's a challenge for you....make a wedding card using a completely non-wedding stamp set. I had the background stamped on the panel and it was just sitting on my desk daring me to use it on the wedding card I was struggling with. The colors weren't "traditional" wedding colors, the motif was a bit problematic too.....but I couldn't let some paper and ink get the better of me, could I?

So here's my wedding card made with the new set called Check This Out....

I stamped out the sentiment with Smitty's ABCs and used the herringbone design from Interlocking Backdrops on the card base and the strip at the bottom. The inside of the card has a pocket for a gift card.
So what do you think....hopefully you like it because it's on the way to the happy couple.

A Delightful Thank You

I love new stamps.....I really love new stamps! And when they are sweet and versatile like the new Lawn Fawn stamps I love them even more!

I wanted to send a special thank you note to Kelly's mom, Gloria, for taking such good care of us while we were in Chicago for CHA. I was treated like a princess and even stayed in a "Princess Room"....

I had a bit of time to lounge on my first morning in Hinsdale....got up before the sun warmed things up.

Gorgeous chandeliers were a theme throughout the house and garage.....

....so with that inspiration I combined some older and some brand new Lawn Fawn stamps to make my thank you card.

Please forgive my lack of posting lately.....I have been pretty busy working at Lawn Fawn HQ. We've been packing up all the new stamps, papers, stickers and twine to ship to your favorite stores. I personally packed the boxes that were sent to Simon Says Stamp.  Look for all the new "Dewey Decimal" and "Fa la la" products later this week! Friends at CHA Summer 2012

After we wrapped up the show on Thursday afternoon it was time to dismantle the booth and move everything back to Lawn Fawn's Mid West  HQ.

We all posed for photos at the end of Day 3.

but it took me a bit to realize who it was.

I have been a fan of hers for years and I'm so glad she stopped for a visit!

After we finished taking our booth down we needed to wait for the union guys to come and take everything to the van for us. We passed the time by giving an assist to Sally Traidman and Lisa Spangler as they dismantled the Hero Arts booth. You know a photo op was inevitable!
