It may be Fall elsewhere....

....but when the thermometer is reading 97 degrees it still feels like summer here. I made a couple of cards yesterday that I'm hoping are season-less but they are looking pretty summery.

For this first one, I was inspired by a card I saw in the new Paper Crafts magazine, using some fabric tape, washi tape and tissue tape. I've still got the Jar of Sunshine stamp set by Unity out on the desk so it got used along with another great Stampendous Bible verse stamp. I found the polka dot paper tape at Target.

This card has a sentiment from Jar of Sunshine and uses some paper from the Simple Stories Summer Fresh 6x6 pad. Lawn Trimmings twine from the Vivid triple pack is the finishing touch.

So it's been tag team doggy vet visits around here lately. Anybody know of a dog and pony show that needs a couple dogs? I'm buried in vet bills and they need to start earning their keep.

Digby is doing much better after his month of weekly Lime baths, he stinks of rotten eggs but all his skin issues have been fixed. He is taking thyroid meds for the rest of his life but they are working so it's worth it.
He's at the vet today for a good smelling bath!! I can't wait.

Tia on the other hand just couldn't let Digs have all the attention. We came home Saturday evening from a lovely BBQ at Mike and Kelly's to find Tia burning up with fever. We took her to the emergency vet at 2 am when we couldn't get her temp to come down. After telling us her temp was 104.7 they did absolutely nothing and sent us home. By 9:00 am Sunday morning I had her at our vet where they began IV fluids and antibiotics. That evening she was sent home to rest with a normal temp. I took her back Monday for an ultrasound of her belly and to have 2 teeth pulled. She got a full dental cleaning and a mani-pedi while she was there. She will be on meds for her liver at least for the next year. She was so cute wandering around the house trying to shake off the anesthesia and now she's almost back to her sassy self. I love my vet, but I've been spending way too much time there lately.

So, how's your week shaping up?

Happy Heart Wisdom #3

I meant for this to be posted yesterday but the beautiful weather was calling.....Al and I loaded up the dogs and headed to Huntington Beach. We met up with Andy and Kellie and Uriah for a lovely walk along the beach. It was the perfect way to enjoy a perfect day!
Unfortunately, I forgot my camera and the people with phones fell down on their picture taking job so I have no pictures to share just really good memories. :)

I just can't get enough of the Summer Fresh collection so I used it for this week's Happy Heart Wisdom

This passage means so much to me. The Word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything He does.  I think about all the times when my faith has been tested by circumstances and uncertainty. God has always been there for me. In my experience my faith in God has never been in vain. We are being tested now. We've jumped into the world of the self-employed after many years of steady paychecks. We are "working without a net" as we like to say.

Looking back I realize that every time we have taken that first step of faith to follow His lead, even if it feels like that first step is taking us right off the edge of the cliff, God has been there to catch us. We have been blessed over the years when we have made the hard financial decisions, the ones that sometimes make no sense to others: the job changes, our decision to have me stay home with our sons, years later leaving my job so we could be foster parents for our nieces. None of these decisions came at a good time financially, but they were in God's timing and we always ended up in a better place than we were before.

I know I can trust God because He wants what is for my good. His unfailing love fills the earth, it surrounds me and reminds me that He can be trusted. He has never let me down before; I know He won't let me down now.

My prayer is that you will know the unfailing love of God, that you will know and trust in Him!

Summer Themed Cards

They are finally finished...why does it take me weeks to create what I can teach others to do in just over 2 hours? There is a nice soft couch in an office somewhere with my name on it...and I thought paper crafting was supposed to be my therapy!

Anyhoo, onward and upward....here they are:

The focus of this class is mixing and matching patterned papers. I used papers from the Summer Fresh Collection by Simple Stories.

All supplies are linked below.

There is such a wealth of wisdom in AW Tozer's writings. My first experience with Tozer came about 35 years ago when I read "The Pursuit of God".  Next to the Bible, this book has had a great impact on my faith and has opened my eyes to the wonderful relationship that God desires to have with each of us.
